Favorite Tradition: The Nativity

Today we participated in one of my favorite family traditions - the reading of the story of Jesus' birth from Luke and the putting up of the Nativity.  Everyone was here this afternoon to participate and it made my heart happy to have us all together.

Brian reads the story of Jesus' birth from Luke as we all listen.

Then we set up our Nativity set.  This set is special to us because my Mamaw and Papaw Wellman gave it to us in the early years of our marriage.

This year, Brian gave the kids each an early Christmas present.  He bought them each a new Bible.  He also wrote them a letter explaining how he came to know Christ and how it has changed his life.  In addition he gave each of them a handwritten letter and tucked it into their Bibles.  Such a special gift.

Absolutely love this bunch of "kids."

I will enjoy this tradition as long as I can.  We are blessed that everyone lives close enough that we can continue this.  But we know the day may come when we are spread out.  Until then.... we continue with this tradition.  After that?  We will find new ways to make new memories and traditions.
