On Friday, I started my therapy for MS. I have to have weekly injections. The neurologist taught Brian and I how to do it. We practiced on an orange. And then it was time to actually do it. He looked at Brian and started talking about where to give it in the arm. I looked up and said I wanted to do it myself. They both looked a little surprised. But, despite my extreme fear of needles and my propensity to pass out at the sight of one, I DID IT!!! I actually gave myself a shot!
I spent a day and a half panicking about it. I kept looking at it saying the needle was longer than the amount of medicine I would be injecting. But in the end, I DID IT!!! Can you tell I am excited?
The side effects were miserable. I had uncontrollable chills and muscle aches. I kept looking for the truck that ran me over. I was not a happy camper on Friday night, but by Saturday morning, the side effects were gone! These side effects might decrease the more I use the injections. So, now it is just a matter of picking the best time to give myself the injections so that I lose the least amount of time with the family.
By the way, did I tell you that I DID IT MYSELF?!?!?
